Gavin was born on Cinco de Mayo (05-05-05), so his first birthday theme sort of decided itself. As strange as it seemed for a first birthday, how could we not have a fiesta? What a fun party to plan! The food was the most difficult part. I didn't want to experiment with Mexican food recipes for a crowd. So we decided to get the food from Q-doba. Once we made that decision, everything else just came together. The food turned out to be quite a hit! We decorated with cacti (I even used a cactus cookie cutter for the sugar cookies, which were becoming a tradition), pinatas, and red, lime green, blue and yellow. I found adorable plates and napkins in the dollar bin at Target. And our bakery even had the perfect cake design! Gavin's first party was so different, but quite a success!
